Christian Science has brought so much strength, love, and peace into my Life that I feel it incumbent upon me to add my testimony to the many which have already appeared in the periodicals recording thankfulness for benefits received, and for the ever ready source of joy and gladness which eliminates all error and discord from our lives.

Before becoming acquainted with Christian Science, I suffered for many years the excruciating pains said to be due to gall-stones, although I sought the aid of the best physicians. The first doctor treated me for neuralgia of the spine and ordered a vegetarian diet, to which I strictly adhered for over two years without any decrease in the periods or the intensity of the pain. The treatment of another physician gave me some relief for a while, but in a few months the pain returned in a still more aggravated and acute form, making life one long and weary pilgrimage. I was never entirely free from pain and was often completely prostrated.

At this time my attention was drawn to Christian Science by the comment which a friend, who was not a Scientist, made on a case of healing. This led me to ascertain when and where the church services were held, and I attended a Wednesday evening testimony meeting in Blackpool. The testimonies given interested me very much, and I was also surprised to find that I had many friends among those present. At the close of the service one of these friends, whom I afterward found to be the second reader, asked me if I would like to read the text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," and offered to lend it to me. I accepted it more out of curiosity than with any idea of seeking help from this source, as the teaching and the method of healing appeared to be so impossible. On my return home that evening I opened the book and began to read the chapter on Prayer. My attention was arrested, and I then began to realize that I had never known how to pray in the fullest sense. I continued to read Science and Health, and the discovery that sickness and affliction of all kinds was not imposed on us for our good by the God who is Love, was a revelation to me.
