More than a year ago, after having suffered for many...
More than a year ago, after having suffered for many years with untold pain from poisoning and what was called a malignant disease of the stomach, I got up one morning, dressed, and went to see a Christian Science practitioner. I had been given up on three different occasions, with only a few hours to live, and had spent some time in the hospital with no apparent relief. I was so weak and exhausted that it took me nearly thirty minutes to go a few blocks, but I was so determined to try Christian Science that I kept on, knowing I would be helped. I rang the door-bell at the practitioner's home, and almost instantly the door was opened by a sweet-faced woman, who asked me in. I could scarcely stand, being so weak, so I sat down and told her how ill I had been for years without relief, and that I had no money with which to pay her, but wished her to help me. She said she would do so, then gave me a treatment, and told me to eat what was set before me when I got home, for it would not hurt me. I went home and ate the first real meal I had eaten for two months, and I have never missed one since that time. I also threw away all the material remedies in the house, and have never used any medicine since that first treatment. I was extremely wasted when I went to the Christian Scientist, but in less than a year I was in a robust condition and feeling fine.
I am very thankful to God for what Christian Science has done and is doing for me. My prayer is that I may be able to live so that I may show others the way to perfect health and happiness.—Edith M. Goodrich, Topeka, Kan.
