In December, 1912, my four-year-old son was taken ill with stomach trouble, and I immediately sent for a physician. The little fellow did not improve, however, and after a few weeks there were some evidences of hemorrhage from the bowels. The physician prescribed a still more rigid diet than the boy had been following, so that he cried from sheer hunger, but when two months had elapsed there was no improvement. The child was nearing death by starvation, and I was losing all hope of his recovery, when I heard of Christian Science for the first time, and in my distress I quickly gained confidence in it and asked a practitioner for treatment, which was lovingly taken up. There was an improvement by the next day, and when on the fourth day the physician came to look after the child, the little fellow met him, saying, "I am all right." These words seemed to make a strange impression on the medical man; he simply could not understand what it all meant, and after a short conversation he left. The boy was given everything to eat, was taken out of doors, and he recovered within a short time.
For this healing I am profoundly thankful to God, and I also feel that I owe a debt of gratitude to Mrs. Eddy, who has shown us the way to Truth.
