The Widow's Mite
No one who has not turned to Christian Science for healing, can understand with what anxiety a seeker after this truth listens to the testimonies of the Wednesday evening meetings. Though he has forsaken drugs, he has gained only a partial understanding of that power which takes their place, and being still more or less fearful of results, he goes to these services week after week, heart-hungry for any morsel of evidence which surely proves the power of God to heal in this day as in the time of Jesus of Nazareth.
It is for such seekers that Mrs. Eddy planned the character of the Wednesday evening meeting, and it is to meet their needs that testimonies should primarily be given. The story is never old, for few there be who do not find frequent opportunity to demonstrate the Christ-healing. Even in small things the power of God may be seen so clearly at work that these, too, will have weight to convince the newcomer into Science that he is indeed on the highway to health, peace, true happiness, and spiritual blessedness.
