Christian Science was first presented to me over seven...
Christian Science was first presented to me over seven years ago, after the physician had told me that no medicine would reach my case, as I had inflammation of the left lung. I had suffered for months; I could not lie on that side, and with the least exertion I would have great pain. I was very much discourged, but it was in this dark hour, when life seemed nothing to me, that Christian Science came to me. I quickly saw it was the truth and grasped it. I asked for help in Christian Science, and one treatment cured me. The same treatment also healed me of a bowel disorder with which I had been troubled all my life. Later I was cured of severe headaches of three years' standing, when it was sometimes a day and a night that I could hardly raise my head from the pillow.
In 1912 I stopped on a rusty nail which went entirely through my foot, and it was very hard to pull out. My first thought was to declare the allness of God, who is an ever-present help in time of need, and is All-in-all. I then called a practitioner, who treated me, and I had no pain. In a few days the condition was fully overcome and I was able to wear my shoe.
When in the mountains of idaho, seven miles from any town, I become very ill with acute lung trouble. There was no help to be obtained in Christian Science except through what understanding my husband and I had; still I had no fear. I knew that the same protecting power was with me, for there is no power but God, and He was with us in the mountains just the same as anywhere else. I knew that God was All-in-all, and He was our only physician. With our reliance on God, and what little understanding we had, I was well in a few days.
