The Lectures

Bicknell Young delivered two lectures on Christian Science in Second church of Christ, Scientist.
With the desire to help others who may be groping in mental darkness, I will tell what God has done for me through Christian Science, hoping it may aid them to break the fetters of error and material sense beliefs.
Toward the end of 1898 I first heard of Christian Science through a friend.
Deep gratitude for the healing of a malignant throat attack compels me to acknowledge the great good that Christian Science has done and is doing for our little family.
Christian Science was first presented to me over seven years ago, after the physician had told me that no medicine would reach my case, as I had inflammation of the left lung.
Several years ago I was attacked by an illness which developed into acute lung trouble, and I was under a doctor's care for two months.
In the spring of 1911 I was taken severely ill, and was obliged to stay in bed for six weeks, besides suffering from the after effects a long time; but in the spring of 1912, when I had another such attack, accompanied by pleurisy, we turned to Christian Science for help, having in the mean time investigated its teachings.
I wish to express my heartfelt gratitude for all that Christian Science has done for me.
I have been asking myself daily if I were doing all I could for the cause of Truth, which makes men free from sin, sickness, and death.
Since coming into Christian Science I have been helped in so many ways that it would be impossible to tell all in one testimony, but for the benefit of young mothers I am writing this.
I wish to express my gratitude for the innumerable blessings I have received in Christian Science, one of which is the healing of a chronic throat affection that I had had for years.
