Working for Humanity

Perhaps few aspects of Christian Science are more inspiring than the manner in which it enables those who have some understanding of its teachings to cease to be helpless spectators of the troubles of humanity, and instead, to take an active part in their removal, through the spiritual realization of the truth of being and in contributing as we may to the advancement of any improved belief for which others are working in their way. Christian Science has come to show men how to pray aright, and how to obtain an answer to their prayers, and this whether their prayers are for themselves, for individuals who may seek their help, or for humanity at large.

It may be assumed that the average Christian Scientist makes frequent use of the two former aspects of prayer, but it is open to question whether the generality of Christian Scientists realize sufficiently their duty and privilege in seeking to overcome the troubles of mankind as a whole. The fact is, that we are all apt to become engrossed in our own personal problems, and many of us either fail to realize, or while realizing fail to comply with, the demands which humanity is constantly making upon us.
