About three years ago I was in an extremely nervous condition, with attacks of dizziness and asthma, the latter in a very severe form; and not one of the various physicians whom I consulted was able to afford me relief. The trouble was growing worse, when my attention was called to Christian Science by a dear friend. I was given several copies of Der Herold der Christian Science, which I read diligently; but not being able to see my way, I asked for Christian Science treatment, which was taken up immediately. After a few treatments I experienced relief in a measure, but the main trouble did not yield. The chief reason for this was, that I seemed unable at first to grasp the teachings of Christian Science, although I used every effort in this direction,—it all seemed so intangible and the error so real. My friend explained to me that I must have patience, for with God's help every error would be overcome. Her words proved true in my case.
The healing process was slow though sure, for six months elapsed before the troubles began to yield. Then the headaches and the dizziness gradually disappeared and my appetite improved, but the asthma seemed difficult to overcome. I never had a good night's rest, for I went through torment, as it were, and was weighed down by fetters out of which no one could deliver me save God, on whom I called. He brought me out of a vale of woe into a valley of delight, for the asthma yielded little by little, and now I can say with a grateful heart that I am freed of it. For this wonderful healing which I have experienced through Christian Science I wish to express my deep-felt gratitude to God, as well as my thankfulness to our dear Leader, Mrs. Eddy, who has made known to us the way to Truth.
