Dr. Hale, while conducting a series of meetings in your...
Salina (Kan.) Journal
Dr. Hale, while conducting a series of meetings in your city, departed from the admonition of the Nazarene to "judge not," when he attacked a Christian organization whose followers are proving the truth of its teachings by their lives and works. The following quotations from the Christian Science text-book show quite clearly that his statements are without foundation in fact. Mrs. Eddy writes on page 497 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures": "As adherents of Truth, we take the inspired Word of the Bible as our sufficient guide to eternal Life. We acknowledge and adore one supreme and infinite God. We acknowledge His Son, one Christ; the Holy Ghost or divine Comforter; and man in God's image and likeness." Also on page 275 we read: "All substance, intelligence, wisdom, being, immortality, cause, and effect belong to God. These are His attributes, the eternal manifestations of the infinite divine Principle, Love."
The universe and man being creations of God, must necessarily partake of the nature and essence of His being, and it requires no argument to show the honest reader that Christian Science does not deny the divinity of God or His Word; but on the contrary, is a Science which treats of God's law and government, showing His divine nature and the way of salvation. The teachings of Christian Science give to sincere seekers after truth a spiritual understanding of the Scriptures and their application to daily life as demonstrated by him who prayed, "Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven." This spiritual awakening of the human consciousness dispels any belief in infidelity.
