It is with a heart overflowing with gratitude for all that...
It is with a heart overflowing with gratitude for all that Christian Science has done for me, and for what it is still doing, that I give this testimony. About sixteen years prior to coming into Christian Science, I was suffering from a stomach disorder and headaches. I was troubled so greatly that for a period of about twelve years I was unable to eat anything during the morning, and later in the day I could eat only certain kinds of food; furthermore, the very least occurrence would upset my nerves to such an extent that I lost control over myself. I consulted various physicians, among them noted specialists, and even took a trip to Europe with the hope of being cured. About two years ago, one of the most noted specialists said that the only thing left for me was to undergo an operation, and that with the hope of living only a few months afterward.
The day before I was to be operated upon, Christian Science was brought to me. Although I had no faith in this teaching, the proposal was made to postpone the operation for at least one week; but I made it two weeks, for I had suffered so many years that I was willing to do that. I was given absent treatments, and after a few days I was able to eat my first hearty breakfast. I certainly enjoyed it. My healing was not, as in many cases, instantaneous; on the contrary, it was very slow. As the friend who gave me the absent treatments lived so far from us, in another city, I went to a practitioner in New York; and I was so much improved in about five visits that I decided to have the treatments through continued through my daughter, who had advanced far enough in Christian Science to help me. I can now say that I am fully healed of all my ailments, and that I have never felt better in my life.
Not alone for the physical healing in Christian Science am I thankful, but for the spiritual uplift, for the understanding of this wonderful truth, and for the harmony and love it has brought into my home. I am thankful to the friend who first mentioned Christian Science to me also to every one that has helped, but above all to God, the giver of all good; and I am deeply grateful to Mrs. Eddy, who has led us to Truth.
