In a recent issue there appeared a sermon delivered by Dr. Lowry in which he refers to Christian Science as a false doctrine. The one and only way to determine whether or not anything is true or false is by demonstration. A truth can be proved, as it always offers demonstrable evidence of its verity, whereas a falsity is incapable of supplying true or reliable evidence. He who came and established Christianity on earth gave many proofs of the truth of his doctrine, and he said to those who doubted him or the truth of his teaching, "Believe me for the very works' sake," and then he gave that rule whereby mankind may prove whether or not they believe, spiritually understand, the true doctrine, or whether they are following a false Christ: "And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; they shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover."

Is our critic able to prove the truth of his work according to the injunction of our Lord and Master,—to "preach the gospel" and "heal the sick"? Christian Science is the life and teaching of Jesus demonstrated. For some forty years its teachings have proven that the Christ is here now, and those who accept him are delivered from the bondage of materialism. Today throughout the world there are unnumbered thousands of living witnesses testifying to the healing and regenerating power of Christ, as taught in Christian Science, to elevate and redeem mankind from sin, disease, and death. Christian Science offers mankind a Principle and rule of life which is demonstrable, and this understanding of scientific being proves that God does answer prayer, and that true prayer, a spiritual knowledge of God, man, and the universe, alike reclaims the sinner and heals the sick. For which of these works does our critic stone us?
