I wish to express through the Sentinel my gratitude, in part at least, for what Christian Science has done for me. I had suffered since childhood with headaches, for which I had taken so much medicine that my stomach became too weak to retain anything. When I had a severe attack the doctor would give me a hypodermic injection, and I would hardly be over one of these before I had another. For a number of years I suffered with pain in the left side, and enlargement. Three years ago I had a very severe attack, and the doctor kept me under an opiate six days, injecting it twice a day. After I was able to be up, he refused to give me medicine, agreeing with two other doctors that it would do me no good.
I was very much prejudiced against what I thought Christian Science to be, but as a last resort I decided to give it a trial, and with a few treatments I was healed of the headaches. Occasionally the other ailment would reappear, but with the understanding of Truth's power which I had gained from reading Science and Health, I could overcome it in a short time, also many minor ills. One year after my first healing acute lung trouble attacked me, both lungs being involved. With help from a practitioner, however, I was up in a week and doing my work. No material remedies of any kind were used.
I have continued to gain a better understanding of God and of the Bible, and of our relation to our fellow men. For this, as well as for my healing, I am indeed thankful to God, and grateful to Mrs. Eddy, whose teachings mean so much to me.—Mrs. F. G. Spain, San Diego, Cal.
