If one will stop for a moment to consider the meaning of the term Christian Science, the justification for so designating the movement, by its Founder, Mrs. Eddy, will readily be apparent. Webster defines a Christian as "one who believes, or professes or is assumed to believe, in Jesus Christ, and the truth as taught by him." The same authority gives several definitions of science, among which we find, "accumulated and accepted knowledge which has been systematized and formulated with reference to the discovery of general truths or the operation of general laws." Now in order to establish any truth, proof must be forthcoming, and the Christian Scientists measure up to the test applied by Jesus to his followers, "He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also," by healing the sick, reforming the sinner, and binding up the broken-hearted, thereby proving that the divine law or Principle understood and demonstrated by Jesus is likewise applicable in this day to the solution of every human problem.
