When I was about two years old I had a serious fall, and as a result I had a slight curvature of the spine, which threw one hip and one shoulder a little out of place. As it was not painful, or even annoying until I discontinued wearing little girls' dresses, I had no medical treatment. Two years ago I went to a normal school and took elocution as a special subject, and almost the first thing my instructor noticed was that I did not stand properly. She asked me to consult the director in gymnastics and see what could be done for me. I did so, and for eighteen weeks I took four lessons a week in gymnastics, at the end of which time my back was thoroughly examined and I was told that it would be useless to try anything further. I was also advised never to let a physician try to straighten me, as it would be impossible to do so, and be only a waste of time and money.

After hearing this, my mother, who is a Christian Scientist, advised me to take up Christian Science in earnest. I did so, but I had no treatment, nor did I think of my back as I studied the weekly Lesson-Sermon. The result was, that recently, when I was being measured for a new dress, I found I was no longer deformed. I could scarcely believe it, and had the measures taken three or four times; but there was no mistake. I was and am straight, thanks to God, divine Truth, as understood in Christian Science.
