I desire to express my gratitude for what Christian Science...
I desire to express my gratitude for what Christian Science has done and is doing for me daily. If there is one thing more than another for which I am grateful, it is the power of right thought. Ten years ago I was sick with many ailments, some of them extending over a period of twenty years. I had tried all known material means, and was not only no better of my old complaints, but was taking on new ones. I was then persuaded by friends to try Christian Science, and went rather reluctantly to see a practitioner. I thought I might receive some help, and then drop the Science, as I did not think I wanted to be a Christian Scientist.
I took three weeks' treatment, also bought a copy of Science and Health and began its study. During the three weeks some of my ailments disappeared and I felt the touch of Truth. I continued my study, and one by one my old ailments disappeared, with the exception of a bad form of stomach trouble. At this time I was engaged in public business, and it became my duty many times to tell people of their wrong-doing. This I did not always do in a spirit of love, but I soon found that this was not in accordance with the teaching of Christ Jesus, or of Christian Science, and I strove to correct this error. Still the stomach trouble remained with me, and I again turned the search-light of Christian Science upon my own consciousness. I found that though I did not express myself audibly, the unspoken thought was just as bad; but I am learning that just so far as I can keep my thought right, and express love to my brother man, the physical condition is harmonious.
I am truly thankful to God, also grateful to our faithful Leader, Mrs. Eddy, for the illumination of the Bible as revealed to me through her works and words, wherewith we are able to heal ourselves and others.
