About two years ago I became acquainted with Christian Science through a dear friend. When she saw my suffering, she gave me some literature to read, and among other things a copy of Der Herold der Christian Science. I had no hope at first, having been afflicted since early youth with a severe nervous trouble which at times would lead to terrible crises and make me look forward to the future with fear and anxiety, for I was fully aware that my mental powers were steadily declining. Last spring the trouble manifested itself so severely that I expected the worst. I suffered with intense headache, and from time to time would lose consciousness. Still I refused to consult a physician, a specialist having told me years ago that my trouble was incurable. My husband, seeing my distressed condition, then applied help to a Christian Science practitioner, who came, and lovingly gave me my first treatment.
After a short time I had sufficiently recovered to be able to call on the practitioner; I could take food without discomfort, and felt my trouble growing less every day. Three weeks later I experienced such well-being as I never had before, for formerly I had rarely been one day without pain, and my acquaintances marveled at the change which had taken place in me. I now know for a certainty that our heavently Father, who is omnipotence and Love, will hereafter guide me. Words are insufficient to tell of God's loving care, and I can but inadequately express my gratitude to Him for all the blessings which He has bestowed upon me. I also feel profoundly indebted to our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, for having led us again to a proper understanding of the teachings of Christ Jesus.
