About two years ago I made up my mind to find out what Christian Science teaches. I had always been a student, and so wanted to look into this as I did into many other subjects. As a result of this line of thinking, I went to church one Sunday morning merely out of curiosity. Having been brought up an orthodox Jewess, the service did not in the least appeal to me, and I resolved never to go again; but in the course of the next month I could not refrain from thinking about the happy faces I had seen at that meeting—yes, I made up my mind that I wanted to know more about Christian Science. I went to a practitioner who was then living here and asked her some questions. She tried to explain to me what God is, and what the Christ is understood to be, in Science. This appealed to me, and I took home a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, which she loaned me. Not then needing any physical help. I did not intend to go into this study very deeply, but I could not help it. It began to mean more and more to me as I read on. Since that time my little boy has been healed of a stomach and bowel disorder from which he had suffered since infancy. I had worn glasses for some seven years and expected to do so all my life, but in a few months I laid them off and never think of them now at all.
These are only two out of the many demonstrations of Truth's power made for me, and for which I am indeed grateful. I am grateful for class instruction, for having been led to a teacher who points one away from personality to Principle. I am indeed thankful to be able now to prove this truth which makes free for myself, and also to help others. I am very grateful that there was one woman, our revered Leader, Mrs. Eddy, who was pure enough to understand the teaching of the Master and so express it for us in her writings.—Mrs. Annie J. Lippman, Hibbing, Minn.
