Up to the time my little boy was six years old I believed in materia medica. The child was considered very delicate. He was pale and lifeless and very irritable. We were unable to make him eat properly, and often for days he took nothing but water. When he was six years old the crisis came,—he had convulsions one after the other. We had three doctors, one staying night and day, but for about a week the child steadily failed. A Christian Science friend heard of this and called to inquire for him. I told her the doctors had given him up and I felt all hope was gone. She then asked me if I would be willing to try any other treatment, and I told her I would try anything. She called at half past two, and at that time the child lay helpless on the bed. After she had been treating him but a short time the child brightened, and soon asked to have me wash and dress him. Then he asked for something to eat. We gave him milk and he drank it, although he had never liked it before. By half past four he was walking around and playing with his toys. Since that time he has eaten well, and is now a happy, healthy boy.
I should also like to tell how Christian Science helped me personally. Ever since the birth of my first child, I had suffered constantly from pain in my side. The same practitioner treated me, and now the trouble has entirely disappeared. I cannot be too thankful to God for leading me to Christian Science.—Mrs. Selina Ellen C. Sowdon, Roslindale, Mass.
