I wish to express my gratitude for the great blessings...
I wish to express my gratitude for the great blessings which Christian Science has brought to me and mine. My ailments were seemingly legion, but the truth has been my only remedy for a number of years. Rheumatism in different forms, dropsical swelling, and later a bad leg which would be considered serious, were all perfectly healed by the power of Truth. In July, 1912, while about my work in extreme heat, I was suddenly overcome with what seemed to be paralysis of the right side. I could not control myself, and when my daughter came to me I could only speak a few words, and those not very distinetly. I tried to realize the truth for myself during the day, but as the trouble did not yield, I followed the advice given in our text-book (p. 420), "If students do not readily heal themselves, they should early call an experienced Christian Scientist to aid them." When the practitioner arrived I could with difficulty tell my trouble, and when I tried to get up I was unable to do so. The following morning (Sunday), although I could not use my hands very well, my speech was improved, and I walked to church both morning and evening. Friday of that week I was able to take part in cleaning our church for the Sunday service. At the end of the second week I dismissed the practitioner, feeling even brighter and better than before this experience.
Although we have had many wonderful proofs of the power of divine Truth, I think this last the greatest demonstration of Christian Science in this locality, showing us as it does that "the Lord's hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear." I am truly thankful to God, and grateful to Mrs. Eddy, who so bravely held the light of this glorious gospel of healing before mankind.
Mrs. Ellen J. Young, Peterboro, Ontario, Canada.
