I am a traveling salesman, on the road almost constantly, and tonight while reading the Bible in my room, I was deeply impressed with these words of Christ Jesus: "For I tell you, that many prophets and kings have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen them." I feel that I no longer have any reason or right to withhold my testimony of healing; certainly no one in all the world should be more truly grateful than I, for after years of wrong living and thinking, a wreck financially, greatly impaired mentally, and tortured night and day in a veritable hell of mind and body, I lay in the last ditch, at the parting of the ways, and, as two St. Louis doctors decreed, with only two more hours to live.

In this extremity my wife was asked by a kind-hearted friend why we did not try Christian Science, since all else had failed. I had to mortal sense typhoid in its worst form. For days, in order to reduce my temperature to normal, three expert nurses had been engaged in packing my fevered, unconscious body in ice every few hours. I had what the doctors pronounced eight distinct hemorrhages in a few hours. In this condition an absent treatment was given me by a Christian Science practitioner in his home, some five miles away, with the result that in twenty minutes I rallied; in two hours the doctors said a miracle had been performed, for my temperature had gone down to normal, and I slept quietly and peacefully without fever or delirium. My recovery to perfect health was rapid, and wonderful to tell, not only did several chronic physical complaints leave me at the same time, but I was also permanently cured of the tobacco habit of years' standing, gambling, swearing, and drinking. In short, I was absolutely made new,—spiritually, mentally, morally, physically. I soon procured a splendid position as a traveling salesman with a good salary attached, so that my family and I have everything in reason that money can buy.

I am indeed grateful to that noble woman, Mrs. Eddy. Her teachings have made my life a heaven where it was once a hell! My one great desire is to learn more of the blessed Christ, divine Truth, and if possible to help others to a realization of that peace "which passeth all understanding."
