For a long time I have felt that I should express my gratitude through our periodicals for the many ways in which I have been helped in Christian Science. I have received much help through the Sentinel and Journal, and realize what a great blessing they are. Christian Science has removed many doubts and fears, also a dread of the hereafter by showing me that God is Love and that He cannot change. Through the understanding of Christian Science we experience, in a measure at least, the peace which God bestows.
Through Christian Science I have been helped several times out of quite serious troubles. While visiting a friend in Delaware, I fell and could not get up without help. I also found that I could not walk without severe pain. My friend, though not a Christian Scientist, was most kind to me and helped me all she could in every way. I worked for myself at once and soon was quite free from pain, although my ankle swelled and became stiff. At night I crawled upstairs to bed, but the next morning could walk down-stairs and improved steadily each day. On Sunday (the fourth day) I went to church and walked to and from cars, making the change from one line to another. In one week I took quite a trip and the following day went shopping and made a return trip, gaining each day, and gradually all discoloration and swelling disappeared. It was a trial to me, at first, that it should occur while I was away from home, but through the experience I was made glad, as it proved more than any words of mine could, that God is a present help in time of trouble, and this gave me a deep sense of gratitude to Mrs. Eddy for making the way so plain to us in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures."
