To say that I am deeply grateful for the knowledge which...
To say that I am deeply grateful for the knowledge which I possess of Christian Science, expresses in but a very feeble manner the love which I feel for our dear Leader, Mrs. Eddy, and for those true friends who first led me toward the light. For over three years divine Love revealed through our text-book has been my guide and protector. The first fruit of my study of Christian Science was the manifestation of improved health in my son, then aged two years, who, up to that time, was constantly being treated by a medical practitioner. Later, a so-called infectious disease was overcome instantaneously by the realization that nothing could harm "the spiritual thoughts and representatives of Life, Truth, and Love" (Science and Health, p. 582). After I had studied Christian Science for six months, the seeming pleasure derived from cigarette smoking was completely destroyed, inasmuch as the desire to indulge in this habit has never returned.
I am truly appreciative of the grand work which is being done in the Sunday school, and which is manifested in the lives of my two children, aged four and five years, who are able to demonstrate for themselves the power of divine Love, their Father-Mother God, to protect them. Our baby boy, nearly two years old, is another beautiful testimony to the efficacy of Christian Science, he never having been treated by materia medica.
It is my humble desire that I may express continually more and more of the Mind "which was also in Christ Jesus" and be able to follow our Leader as she has followed Christ.—Ivor A. Hopkins, Swissvale, Pa.
