I am very grateful for what Christian Science has done...
I am very grateful for what Christian Science has done for me and thankful that I can use and prove its teachings. I am now a young woman, but I was only sixteen months old when I had my first treatment. I have received help many times, one of which I will mention. My hands were covered with warts, two of which were very large and made me very unhappy, as everybody talked about them, telling of remedies for them; but I knew that nothing would rid me of them but the truth. The school children were afraid to take hold of my hands, and even the teachers seemed to shrink from me, which mortified me very much, and to have any one speak of it made me feel worse.
I had been treated by several Christian Science practitioners and had worked for myself for about three years with no sign of improvement so far as my hands were concerned, but I held fast to the truth, which is more powerful than any material means, and continued to declare that God's child is perfect, without spot or blemish. I also knew that the truth once spoken will do its work, even if mortals do not see it at first. In 1908 I went to a lecture on Christian Science which appealed to me very much, but I never once thought of the warts. The next morning the largest one was gone, and I did not know when the last one went. I am, however, very thankful to say that my hands are free of them, as is my consciousness of the hateful, hard thoughts which seemed to manifest themselves in this way.
People all knew I had this annoyance, but they did not know when it was gone, for mortals are more quick to see error than to recognize its disappearance. I wish to say again that I am very thankful to God for this truth which our dear Leader, Mrs. Eddy, has helped us to understand.
