In 1904 I heard of Christian Science through a relative who had been healed of a severe illness. I was not so much in need physically at that time, as I was mentally depressed on account of circumstances in my family which gave me sorrow and caused me to worry a great deal; but in reading the Herold attentively it soon became clear to me that through Christian Science my condition would surely improve.
In 1905 I had to move to Berlin, and there became a regular attendant of the services and meetings. Through these services, as well as through the patient help of a practitioner, this wonderful teaching became clearer to me, so that as a natural outcome I ceased to worry, dropped my cares, and patiently trusted to the guidance of God. Later on I also had various demonstrations in a physical way. Thus I was healed within a short time of severe rheumatism through Christian Science. A toe which had become crooked through this ailment straightened after one treatment, and one of the fingers which was bent regained its natural shape. On one occasion my right hand became very much swollen, so that I could not move it, but I had an absent and a present treatment, whereupon the hand became entirely normal. Finally a swelling at the roof of the mouth, which had inconvenienced me for several years, disappeared.
For all these blessings I give thanks unto God, and am also grateful to our faithful Leader, Mrs. Eddy, for showing us the way to divine Love and revealing to us the eternal One as the all-caring Father-Mother God.
