As a student of Christian Science I feel it my duty to express the gratitude which I owe to this teaching. When I first heard of it I was without hope and without God in the world. It was through a young lady who was boarding at our place, and who is now my wife, that I became interested in Christian Science. She always had such a pleasant way with her that one day I asked her to loan me her copy of Science and Health; and I am glad that I did, for I found in it just what I wanted. I always had such a fear that God would send some disease upon me and take me away, that I scarcely knew what a happy day was; but from all of this I have been freed, for I have learned that God is Love, and not the source of hate. I was also healed of the tobacco habit and the appetite for strong drink, and of profanity, through the study of Science and Health alone, for which I am very thankful. I wish to express my gratitude to Mrs. Eddy for the good she has done, also for the Christian Science literature.—Ernest Farrington, Newell, S. Dak.
