The passing of Mrs. Eddy removes the most remarkable...

Waterloo (Ia.) Times-Tribune

The passing of Mrs. Eddy removes the most remarkable woman of many generations. Whatever may be said of her teachings, there remains a grand life, full of peace and benediction to all mankind.

For many years she was the target of sectarian vituperation; yet she bore it all with a fortitude that could only come of a thorough belief in the righteousness of her views; and thus furnished an exemplification of Christian fortitude that might well serve for an example to her detractors. Throughout it all, no retaliatory word escaped her; no reprisals were made.

Whatever may be said of her teachings from the standpoint of the theologian, yet it remains that she taught hope to the despairing, love to the misanthropic, and faith to him who was weary of the technicalities of creeds.
