Christian Science is the word of God spiritually understood...
Holton (Kan.) Signal
Christian Science is the word of God spiritually understood and scientifically demonstrated; it is an exact science because it has rule and Principle for demonstration; it is a Christian Science from the fact that it is the truth ascertained about Christianity as taught and practised by Christ Jesus. The activities of Christian Science are upon a divine basis. They rest upon the eternal fact that there is but one Mind, God, who is the source and governor of all true being; therefore they have no kinship with mental suggestion, hypnotism, mind over mind, or mind over matter. The healing of the sick and the preaching of the gospel go hand in hand. Sickness and disease being the result or effect of sin, whether sin through intent or ignorance, it naturally and scientifically follows that the destruction or overcoming of sin, which is the true forgiveness of sin, results in healing the disease. This Jesus clearly recognized when he said, "Whether is it easier to say to the sick of the palsy, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Arise, and take up thy bed, and walk?"
In the words of our critic permit me to say: May he who was the very incarnator of sanity, and he who was the physician of all physicians, and he who preached as never man preached, be your inspiration and mine, and be the true leader of your profession and my profession, so that we shall be workers together with him, and be able to say as he said: "The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and the recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, to preach the acceptable year of the Lord."
And this great Exemplar, or Wayshower, who brought the only way of salvation from sin, sickness, and death to mortals, further said, "He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also;" "And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand. Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give."
