THE LECTURES

A lecture on Christian Science was delivered in the Dover Opera House by Clarence C. Eaton, May 15. He was introduced by Attorney Arthur L. Foote of this city, who said in part,—

We have gathered here on this beautiful afternoon to enjoy, I trust, an intellectual feast, to obtain a deeper knowledge of Christian Science and a better understanding of its foundation, its teachings, and its practices; for in this enlightened day, when we observe that some of the most brilliant minds of our race have become converts to this faith, we cannot afford to be ignorant of the subject. From a superficial view, we have already learned that like all religions which have been of benefit in the upbuilding of mankind, this Science has met and overcome the obstacles placed in its pathway, for the shining light of Truth and Love has dispelled the vapor of ridicule and oppression and compelled our admiration and respect.—Democrat.
