Mrs. Mary Baker Eddy, the inspiration of Christian Science,...
Rock Island (Ill.) Argus
Mrs. Mary Baker Eddy, the inspiration of Christian Science, has entered upon her ninetieth year. At least half her years have been wonderfully eventful ones for herself as well as for that large and swelling army of men and women who interpret life and the Scriptures through her marvelous ken. One may contradict or seek to confute every fundamental thought in the propaganda of Christian Science, and yet it must be conceded, in fairness, that the life, example, writings, and teachings of Mrs. Eddy have been for the great betterment of the world and the advancement of the quality of citizenship.
Here is a gospel of Christian optimism, and healthful and wholesome results have established its right to serious recognition everywhere. It has grown beyond the stage where the tinsel weapons of the scoffer may prevail against it, and must henceforth be considered upon its merits.
