It is over eleven years since Christian Science was first presented to me while on a visit to a sister whom I had not seen for seven years. Four years of this time she had been interested in Christian Science, had herself been healed and had gained sufficient knowledge of the subject to heal others. For over seven years previous to this time I had suffered a great deal with stomach and heart troubles. I had been treated by three different doctors, also used every remedy that was recommended to me, but they only afforded temporary relief. My sister told me that food had no power to harm me, as I had believed. To me this was an extraordinary statement, but I found that what she said was true, and the good effect remained with me for about a month after I returned home. At the end of that time, however, the old trouble returned in full force and I suffered severely after eating.

I had been in conversation with my former pastor on the subject of Christian Science, and he had almost persuaded me that it was not Christian. I then lost no time in writing my sister to effect, but but in the mean time I prayed to be led of God, for I was convinced that Christian prayers should be answered in healing the sick and suffering, as they were in Jesus' time. My suffering was so intense that I decided it was a rebuke to me for denying the truth after I had had the proof of its power, so I wrote my sister a second letter, asking for treatment, and I was healed in one week. Since then I have had no trouble with the old complaint and have also found Christian Science equal to every necessity. In all this time Christian Science has been the only physician in our family of five persons,—my husband, three children, and myself. These children, whose ages are from four to ten years, have never taken any medicine or used any material remedies, and they are daily proving the power of God's Word to heal, and to protect them from the ills of the flesh, through the light thrown upon it by the Christian Science text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy. These children were all born under Christian Science treatment, and I have had wonderful proofs of the power of Truth at such times. I have also had the blessed joy and privilege of helping others, but to me the healing of disease is only the smallest part of Christian Science. The healing of sin and the spiritual uplifting that have come to me through this study is beyond human expression.

With deepest love and thankfulness to God, I send these lines, in the hope that they may encourage some weary pilgrim, for many a time the testimonies of others in the Sentinel and Journal have been a help to me. I also wish to express my thanks to our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, for her untiring labor of love and wisdom in so richly providing us with an abundance of pure literature. Last but not least, is the Monitor, which is a welcome daily visitor at our house. Even the youngest member of the family looks for it with interest. There is always something to interest even a child of four, and I am never afraid of being questioned by the children as to something which they have read in the Monitor that they should not read, or some picture which would leave a wrong impression on their memory, as is often the case with the ordinary newspaper.
