From earliest childhood I was not strong, and in later years a stomach trouble appeared, which gradually grew worse until I was most wretched, being subject to almost constant vomiting. After my marriage, while living in the Canal Zone of Panama, I began to suffer from what the doctor called internal spasms—an alarming condition. Just at this time a dear friend told us of Christian Science. A few weeks later his wife came, and I was the first patient of this brave woman in this place. I was benefited from the start, but my healing was slow. Each day, however, I grew a little in the understanding of Truth, and I am now entirely well. Just in the degree that I have understood the teaching of Christian Science, and put it into practice, have the ills disappeared.

Looking back, it all seems so beautiful, so natural, to grow up and out of the old fears, envy, mistrust, hatred, and the like, into the sunshine of Truth and Love, as revealed in Science and Health by our Leader, Mrs. Eddy. Hope was awakened, happiness followed, accompanied by the greatest of all blessings—health. Cause and effect are thus revealed in a new light. I realize this is only the beginning in the right direction, and while much has been overcome, there is yet much more which requires earnest study before I can take a part in the great work. Only as we live the good we know, can we hope to gain more.

As other earnest Scientists have helped me in times of discouragement and darkness, so may I be ready and willing to help another, and may my life prove my gratitude to our Leader for giving us our text-book.
