The short time I have been interested in Christian Science...
The short time I have been interested in Christian Science has brought to me so many revelations that I can no longer withhold an expression of my gratitude. Words alone would be inadequate, but, as the psalmist exclaims, "That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving, and tell of all thy wondrous works."
About two years ago I came to Christian Science a very sick man, my ailment being what is commonly called jaundice; for months previous my stomach had been in a wretched condition, sleep and ambition were entirely gone, and life was not worth living. I considered what was best to do, and at last decided to try Christian Science. This trial was certainly crowned with success, for in two weeks' treatment I was restored to perfect health. I was at the same time healed of several other ills, among them one to which I had been subject so long as I can remember. For twenty years I had done all that I could, but with only temporary relief; I stopped eating things which are said to be difficult to digest, but with no signs following. I had given up all hope of being cured of this tormenting ailment, but by the great power of Truth I am entirely healed. I can now eat what I choose and when I choose without any bad effects. In like manner, I was healed of the smoking habit, in which I had indulged for thirty years. During all this time I was a very heavy smoker, and never dreamed of stopping, as I never could. Now why did I give it up? I can truthfully answer that when my healing took place the desire for smoking was gone, and up to this hour I have not had the least longing for it.
Christian Science has opened to me a new life, and out of the depths of doubt and fear it has gently brought to me the peace of mind "which passeth all understanding." It has united me with God, from whom I had years ago departed, due to the doctrine of my early childhood days. Christian Science found me by the wayside and brought to me the knowledge of the living God, who indeed forgives all our iniquities and heals all our diseases. I am therefore very grateful to Mrs. Eddy, who has revealed this great power of Truth to the world, and for the text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," whereby we all are able to come into the dwelling-place of the most High. This Scriptural passage is to me literally fulfilled: "He that overcometh shall inherit all things: and I will be his God, and he shall be my son."
