AMONG THE CHURCHES

The members of First Church of Christ, Scientist, held a joyful meeting last night [June 23] in the church parlors, to celebrate the lifting of a mortgage on their church property. The transaction involved about $24,000. This leaves the church in a very prosperous condition, and the congregation naturally is jubilant.—St. Joseph News-Press.

Commencing with the first Sunday in July, the Christian Scientists of Portland will meet in their new church building on Neal street. The Sunday School room has been completed, and all services of the church will be held there for the present. The members are much gratified that they are able to occupy premises they can call their own.
