I can truthfully say that I was never free from disease until Christian Science was brought to me by a very dear relative in 1903. Since then I have had many beautiful demonstrations of its power to heal through the understanding gained by the study of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," and from the helpful letters of the one who brought the truth to me. Christian Science has enabled me to overcome headaches, stiffness of joints from childhood, earache with partial deafness, also a serious form of female trouble pronounced incurable by the many physicians I had to treat me from time to time. All this healing came through the study of Science and Health.

Once, while traveling in a two-seated buggy with my husband and three small children, I was made to realize more clearly than usual our utter dependence on God and our safety in Him. A horse ran into us from behind, catching one foot in a wheel, while the other was pawing above one child's head. I was impelled to declare the truth aloud, and this gave my husband self-control so that he could manage our team. Soon a passer-by released the horse's foot, and no damage was done to anything. Some two years ago I was strongly impressed to visit my sister about a hundred miles away, though not knowing her needs; and this desire increased until I finally overcame all difficulties—and there were many—and went. I found her infant seemingly at the point of death. She knew nothing of my acceptance of Christian Science, but I began to realize the truth for the babe, without making any explanation. The child was soon relieved, and slept well that night, the first sound sleep in forty-eight hours. The improvement was so rapid that my sister and the anxious friends said it seemed doubtful if the child could have had the illness which they thought; but I told my sister, "The child was ill as a child could be, and God sent me to help you." As I explained Christian Science to her, she cried for very joy; indeed, I never saw any one more thankful. The babe was also healed of a serious kidney trouble, which has never returned. My sister's eyes and general health were much improved after she accepted Christian Science, which she did at once, for it seemed as beautiful and natural to her as it had to me. We had been brought up by devout Christian parents, and our father, who was a minister, had great faith in God.
