I feel it a duty as well as a very great privilege to tell of...
I feel it a duty as well as a very great privilege to tell of a few of the many, blessings which have come to me since learning of Christian Science and accepting its teachings. My desires and thoughts today are so very unlike those which I entertained when, over five years ago, I received my first help through Christian Science treatment, that I seem hardly able to tell of the conditions from which I have been made free.
One of the first healings was that of chronic bowel disorder. About eleven years ago I underwent a surgical operation for an abdominal trouble, and it was thought by the surgeon that the bowel difficulty would be much lessened, if not entirely overcome, as a result of operating for the other internal trouble. This did not prove to be so, however, and I did not receive any lasting benefit until I was healed through Christian Science; nevertheless, I feel most kindly toward the good man who tried to help me. Severe headaches, with which I suffered from early childhood and for which I had tried all sorts of material means to get some relief, have almost entirely disappeared from my consciousness. Only as I am willing to have one God, who is always good, to love instead of hate, trust instead of fear, rejoice instead of sorrow, forgive instead of condemn, am I able to know and to do God's will in a far greater sense than I had ever dreamed of doing, or in fact had ever thought I would care to do, until awakened somewhat to the truth of being through the study of Christian Science.
A little son, about five years of age, has been healed in Christian Science of many ailments supposed to be common among children. My husband has overcome a desire for sociable drinking. We always kept liquor in the house and felt free to take it when we desired, but the sense of worldliness has been largely overcome, in my healing, and we are very glad to know something of the true desires and pleasures of life and living.
