Some five years ago, while at work as a carpenter, in taking some measurements on a ceiling I lost my balance and fell from the trestle to the floot, injuring my right arm severely. A physician was called, who set the bones and put on a cast; but having had some experience in Christian Science, I was satisfied to trust to divine Truth for my healing. I placed myself under the care of a practitioner, and told her what I had done, which she said was all right. My arm was kept in the cast about four weeks, but when this was taken off, I could not straighten my elbow or raise my hand to my face. The doctor advised me to use weights to straighten the arm, and said if I succeeded in getting a two thirds movement it would be all I could expect. I did not value this opinion, and continued with Christian Science treatment.
During the time I was under this difficulty, in attempting to alight from as street-car I was thrown to the ground with considerable force, receiving some severe injuries. I could not raise my arm, and the pain was so severe that my case appeared very forlorn. At this time I had given up treatment with the Christian Science practitioner, as she lived in an adjoining town; but I called on one nearer home, and in a very short time was perfectly healed. At the same time the liquor and smoking habits were overcome and my general health much improved, for which I am very thankful to God, and also to Christian Science, for a better understanding of Truth.—R. B. Nixon, Oakland, Cal.
