It is several years since the enlightenment of Christian Science came to me. I did not have immediate need of physical healing but, although Christian Science has proved a great preventive of disease, I have had occasion to call upon it for cure at different times. Once, while traveling in the South, I was taken with a fever. I telegraphed to a practitioner a thousand miles away, and I was healed by absent treatment. It must have been a realization of divine sonship that did the work. Jesus came to his disciples' aid in the storm. For him to know that the Son of God was in the place where he was needed was sufficient to meet this need at that time, and Christian Science proves this today. At another time I was having trouble with my throat. I am an actor, and could with difficulty perform my task when thus afflicted. I tried to overcome the disorder myself. even staying up all one night to do so, but the demonstration seemed beyond me. I then asked a Christian Science practitioner for help, and I was quickly restored,—enabled to eat, sleep, and work.

It is a joy to testify for Christian Science, and to recognize and honor our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, even in this small way.—F. C. House, New York, N. Y.

While playing with a theatrical company in New York city, I had a narrow escape from what seemed to be a perilous situation. There was hardly a moment for thought, but I felt God's nearness and do not remember having any sense of fear. A friend, who is a Christian Scientist, was in front, and she said it looked as though nothing could save me; but she closed her eyes and tried to realize the truth. In front of the footlights was a chain upheld at intervals by sharp-pointed spikes. I fell over these, and landed on my back on the footlights, breaking about nine of them. Although my dress was badly torn, I was not even scratched, with the exception of a slight mark on one ankle. It was said that women in the audience screamed, and the men in the orchestra jumped up to try and catch me, but I was held safe by infinite Love. This certainly proved that God is indeed an everpresent help.
