Words fail me when I attempt to express my gratitude to God, and to our dear Leader for Christian Science. Last July, in coming down stairs I fell and seriously injured my leg. At the time there was no one in the house but the servants, and they were in a part of the house entirely separate. As I could not stand or walk, I was obliged to crawl up the stairs to my room, and managed to get on the lounge, where I rested very comfortably until help came. I read in Science and Health, realizing all the time the omnipotence and omnipresence of God. My son was the first to come to me, and he telephoned for a surgeon; also, at my request, to a Christian Science practitioner for treatment. When the limb had been set, the doctor said he feared I would not have much rest that night, as such a fall was a great shock; but despite his prediction I did sleep most of the night. After the first night I had no sense of the injury, although I wore the plaster as directed by the doctor, which seemed best, as none of my family are Scientists. I never lost a night's rest, had no pain, ate well, was cheerful and happy, and gained in flesh. All the treatment was absent. For a few days the nurse telephoned conditions, then I wrote daily to the practitioner. I did not use crutches, and I am now using the limb as usual and am very thankful for the help received in Christian Science.
