Because I desired physical healing so earnestly, I became willing to be interested in Christian Science, but it was perhaps three months before any meaning came to me from my reading. When I became humble, and willing to stand alone if need be, to give up the beliefs of the past and endure temporary separation from friends, then I began to gain spiritual insight, and was able to prove in small ways the power of Truth. To do this I was placed under stress of circumstances with no help but my new concept of God. It was not, however, until five years later that I was healed, though studying and working earnestly and faithfully.

These eight years of work and their ultimate healing—correction—have been an inestimable temperamental discipline; the blessing has been rich, and each day I wonder anew at the sublime wisdom of God's law of good and its gentle leading. I am most reverently grateful for the mental and physical regeneration which this truth has brought me, for I owe to it all the happiness and health I have ever known, and I am even more grateful for knowing this, that Christian Science is the open fount for all, where each may drink and be satisfied, and that nothing can divert the healing stream from its beneficent course.
