Many times I have thought I would write to the Sentinel...
Many times I have thought I would write to the Sentinel and tell how grateful I am for the blessings that have come to our family through the slight understanding we have, and the help of others in Christian Science. It would be impossible for me to tell all that has been overcome. At the time when I took up the study of Science and Health it was not for physical healing. I was a member of an orthodox church, but was not satisfied. I had studied "mental science" a short time, but there was much in it that I could not think was the truth. Then I came to see what Christian Science is, and it has been a constant source of comfort to me.
I hardly know how I could have passed through so many seeming misfortunes and accidents in our family of three, without the strength given in the understanding that divine Love is an ever-present help. I had a fall down a flight of stairs which resulted in very serious injuries. My husband, who is over seventy years of age, had two ribs broken from a fall, but in less than a week he was able to go to his office. Our son had his hand caught in machinery, so that it was thought by the surgeons at the hospital that they would have to amputate the whole hand, but he insisted that they must try to save it, especially as he had only the use of one hand. While he was not a Christian Scientist, as soon as I reached him he asked me to telephone a practitioner for help, which I did. He passed through the ordeal wonderfully, and when he became conscious asked for something to eat. One surgeon remarked that he had never seen the like of it before, but we knew from what source our help came. We brought him from the hospital the next morning, and he was dressed and sat up all the time. With all three cases there was no pain, inflammation, or fever, and the whole system was perfectly normal.
Is it any wonder that I cannot find words to express my gratitude to God, also to Mrs. Eddy, for the help we have had in Christian Science? If I were to tell all the good that has come to us through Science, it would take the space that belongs to others.
