A PRAYER

Dear Lord, at such time as I am denied
Room in the inn of some heart overfilled,
Where I have sued for lodging, and aside
Must turn for shelter, let regret be stilled.

And in some humble place, where I can rest
Among strong service-concepts gentle-eyed,
Let there be born and for the wise men dressed
A healing thought to which Thy star shall guide.

And later, if I see it crucified,
Support me till the resurrection morn
Shall show Love's power to prove it glorified,
Despite the lowly spot where it was born.
