I have been helped a number of times in Christian Science

I have been helped a number of times in Christian Science; Four years ago I had absent treatment at the birth of my second child. When the birth took place, everything was natural and I experienced very little pain. The physician who was present at the time was amazed, and said he had never seen anything like it. The child was large and healthy and we both got along nicely. I was also helped at the birth of two other children. At another time, when my oldest child was a few weeks old, he suffered constantly with a bowel disorder. Finally, I wrote to a Christian Science practitioner to give him treatment, and in three days the action was perfectly normal. There are a great many other times when I and my family have been helped through Christian Science, for which I am most thankful.

I would like to tell of a beautiful demonstration of Christian Science healing which we had in the summer of 1909. Our little boy, then four years of age, swallowed part of a toy, made of iron, which caused violent vomiting. We called a physician at once, who thought it has passed into his stomach. The child was very sick and weak for some time, but gradually gained strength, although he had great difficulty with his eating, his throat being in a bad condition. After about six weeks he took cold, and his breathing was very bad. In October he became so much worse that it was thought best to have him examined with the X-ray. We were then told that the iron had lodged and almost entirely closed one lung. The physicians in attendance advised an operation, but said his lung was in such a bad condition that he could not possibly recover. We then took him to Chicago, to a hospital, and the physicians there said it would be a very dangerous operation, in fact would be fatal; so we engaged a Christian Science practitioner in Chicago, who began treatment at once, and we brought the child back home.

After three weeks of absent treatment I took him to Chicago again, and one of the city's best physicians examined him again with the X-ray. He said the iron was gone, but that no human power could save the child as he was in the last stages of acute lung trouble. I then took the child to the home of the practitioner and stayed there nearly a week. The improvement was very noticeable after this time, so that long before Christmas we felt that he was perfectly healed. He kept well all winter, and now, a year after the accident, he is as healthy and strong a child as one could wish to see. His disposition, too, has improved as much as his body. Before this experience he was cross and irritable; now he is sweet and loving. Needless to say we all feel the deepest gratitude, and it is with a very thankful heart that I send this testimony, hoping it will help some other who is past all human aid. We feel that we are greatly blessed to live at a time when so much truth is being brought to light. Our thanks are first to God, the giver of all good; then to Mrs. Eddy, the Founder of Christian Science, through whom the light of Truth has come to this age.—Zoetta Edens, Onarga, Ill.
