GIFT TO THE DELAWARE

Correspondence

A short time ago the battleship Delaware sailed up the Delaware river and anchored close by Wilmington to pay her respects to the people of the state whose name she bears. Incidentally she is claimed to be the newest and largest battleship in our navy, and the Delawareans are justly proud of her.

After lying at anchor for four or five days, during which period an opportunity was afforded to visit the boat, she steamed away, carrying with her among other gifts a complete set (library edition) of the several books comprising our Leader's writings, enclosed in a suitable mahogany case, a gift which was gratefully accepted by the captain of the ship in person. Furthermore, arrangements were made whereby The Christian Science Monitor will reach the battleship's library in whatever part of the world the Delaware may be cruising, thus insuring to her officers and crew the high standard of news which this valuable paper offers.
