THE LECTURES

The lecture by Frank H. Leonard of Brooklyn, N. Y., Saturday evening [Oct. 1] at Woodmen Hall, awakened much interest. Mr. Leonard was introduced by Attorney L. E. Fulwider, who said,—

It seems strange that the world's attitude toward, religion differs so much from its attitude toward the so-called secular affairs. To all the different branches of engineering, to all the different branches of transportation, to all the different branches of the arts and sciences, the world looks expectantly for advancement and improvement, and hails the same with delight; but in matters concerning the creator and His creation there is a prevalent idea that nothing more is to be discovered or learned.

Christian Science has come into the world to offer a reasonable interpretation of the Scriptures and an avenue of escape from sin, sickness, and disease. There are some, however, who have been prejudiced against Christian Science and its import and mission to the world, and to endeavor to remove this prejudice is the purpose of these lectures. I have studied Science and Health, not for the purpose of expounding its mysteries to others, but for my own satisfaction and benefit, and from the knowledge I have gained and the benefits which I have received, and the benefits which the different members of my family have received, and the many living examples of Christian Science healing which have come under my observation, I am convinced that Christian Science is not an experiment, but is founded on the rock, and "the gates of hell shall not prevail against it."
