Junction City (Kan.) Union
There is no resemblance between Christian Science and hypnotism. They are no more allied than light and darkness. Hypnotism is a belief of sentient life in matter, or mind over mind; it is a belief of one human will controlling another, which can be used for wilful and evil purposes. The basis of Christian Science is spiritual; it is the operation of divine law, the law of good made manifest in healing disease and sin through the understanding that there is but one infinite Mind, God, the source and governor of the universe and man. This spiritual knowledge can be used for no other purpose than good. Paul recognized this true mental activity when he said: "The weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds; casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ."
