THE LECTURES

The Rev. William P. McKenzie of Cambridge, Mass., delivered an address at Hart's Theater on Thursday evening [Nov. 11] on the subject, Christian Science, or Deliverance from Evil." He was introduced by City Engineer Davenport Bromfield, who spoke in part as follows:—

It seems strange that the world's attitude toward religion should differ so much from its attitude toward so-called secular affairs. To all the different branches of engineering, to all branches of transportation, the world looks expectantly for advancement and improvement and hails the same with delight, but in matters concerning the creator and His creation there is a prevalent idea that nothing more is to be discovered or learned. Christian Science has come to the world to offer a reasonable interpretation of the Scriptures and an avenue of escape from sin, sickness, and disease. There are some, however, who have prejudged Christian Science and its import and mission to the world, and to endeavor to remove this prejudice is the purpose of these lectures.—San Mateo Times.
