It is with a grateful heart that I give this testimony of benefits received during fourteen years in Christian Science. To tell of all would take too long, but before receiving treatment in Christian Science I was in poor health, with frequent and severe attacks of headache and a trouble in my side which one doctor who attended me diagnosed as liver complaint. He said that I would probably always have it, but this and the headaches, besides some other ailments, disappeared after I received treatment in Christian Science, and after reading "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, she who was living close enough to God to receive His message and give it to a needy world. For the healing from sickness I am thankful, but for the healing from sin no words can tell what that means to me! I rejoice to know a God who is Love and who is always at hand.

I wish I could tell as I ought of my healing from a very severe attack of lung trouble in December, 1907. I was at that time living with my daughter in Cripple Creek, Col., and it was during a term of severe cold and storm that I was taken with symptoms of illness which did not seem to yield to the statements of truth that I tried to realize for myself. So I sent for the First Reader of the church, who had helped me at another time. She responded and as soon as possible came to see me and gave me present treatment. For a while I was better and was helping about the house, but from exposure to the cold my case seemed to grow worse. The practitioner came and stayed by me faithfully, day and night, quieting my fears and giving me care as well as treatments. I can never forget her encouraging words, her loving patience, and that of my daughters, also a dear neighbor who was very kind. One night I seemed to be in a very critical condition, though faithfully the dear ones watched and declared the truth; but, even when it seemed that the end was near, I revived, and asked for some refreshment. How their dear faces lighted up, and how tenderly they cared for me! From that hour I began to mend, and soon was able to walk and had a good appetite.

One of my daughters, who had been summoned from Denver, wished me to return with her to stay the rest of the winter, which I did. I gradually gained strength, and I know I can never fully pay the debt I owe to God, who sustained me through that trying experience, but I hope to prove my gratitude by being helpful to others and striving to shed some light on their pathway.
