In June, 1905, my health began to fail, I was greatly reduced in flesh, and alarming symptoms of a serious kidney and bladder disease developed. Necessary examinations were made by a resident physician, the verdict being that I had a deep-seated disease which would soon end my life. Tests were made by a chemist and physician, who pronounced my case chronic and said that there was no permanent help for me. I had been a nurse many years, had cared for dear ones who had suffered all the tortures of this so-called incurable ailment, and I had no faith in any material remedies. I therefore gladly yielded to the entreaties of my husband and children, to trust my case to God through Christian Science. As there was no practitioner here, I wrote to a dear friend in another city, in December, 1905, and even before a reply came, the healing power was felt. At the close of three weeks of absent treatment I was perfectly whole. The freedom from bondage of both body and mind caused a thanksgiving to God—even audible praises to the Giver of every good and perfect gift.

I date my healing from January, 1906, and although in my sixty-seventh year I am able to do more work than for several years before. My husband, seventy-four years of age, began to read Science and Health while I was being treated, and after having been a member of a church for fifty years, he has found a more spiritual light shining from the Bible through his study of the Lesson-Sermons and all of Mrs. Eddy's writings. He has been healed of rheumatism of many years' standing. We are both very grateful to God for all of these blessings, and to Mrs. Eddy, our Leader, for her steadfast research for the life-giving Principle and for pointing the way to the kingdom of God, here and now.—Mrs. Fletcher Massee, Menomonie, Wis.
