In a recent issue your book reviewer makes the statement that "the Christian Science literature abounds in sentences that no human being can understand and in phrases susceptible of various interpretations." Permit me to say that many thousand human beings are daily proving their understanding of these sentences by healing and reforming themselves and others. Every statement in the Christian Science text-book is in accord with the fact that God is Spirit, and in the degree that human thought is spiritualized these statements are grasped, and the fruits of the Spirit appear. Every Wednesday evening, in many hundred meetings, testimonies of gratitude find expression—gratitude for the revelation of the God who "forgiveth all thine inquities; who healeth all thy diseases."

As to the Christian Science literature being "susceptible of various interpretations," it is not easy to express spiritual truth in material terms, but as every statement in the Christian Science text-book is based upon Principle, a correct interpretation of its statements will bring unfailing results. A scientific text-book is not for mere reading, but for close study and demonstration. Only those who fulfil these requirements are equipped to pass judgment.
