I have been interested in Christian Science for two years...
I have been interested in Christian Science for two years, and through its teaching I have been so helped and have realized such a change of thought, that I feel as if I had literally been born again, or had had an awakening to a true understanding of the reality of being. From being a morbid, hypersensitive woman, who took a melancholy view of everything, I have been lifted into a consciousness and realization of all good, as being the inheritance of God's children.
Last spring I had a wonderful experience. I had been reading "Unity of Good" by Mrs. Eddy, and studying the Christian Science Bible Lesson, all the week. On Sunday morning every word of the service seeme so clear and real that my mind never once wandered from it. After church, when I took a street-car to go home, I realized that I had been healed during the service of near-sightedness, an infirmity which had manifested itself, apparently, for over fifteen years. My amazement, as I gazed upon a new world and tested my new-found sight, will never be forgotten. I could see small objects across the Hudson river and as far as the eye could reach. This was wonderful to one who had aways relied upon the conductor to tell her when to get off the car, because of inability to distinguish the numbers on the street-corners. This was four months ago, and I have never had a return of the lack of sight since.
At another time I was cured of deafness which had resulted from illness, while telling a Christian Science practitioner of the difficulty. A peculiar sensation came, as if a band which had bound my head had dropped off, and then I could hear. These are only two of the many manifestations of good which have come to me through Science. I know of no way to express my thankfulness to God for leading me to know Christian Science, or to Mrs. Eddy for discovering it and for her bravery in standing alone to declare it to us. I feel that not half has been told, and that we are only in the beginning of a wonderful unfolding of a new world, which is to become manifest through Christian Science. What has been done is but little compared to what will be done through the knowledge and application of this wondrous law of Life and Truth.—Clare Torrence White, New York, N. Y.
